About the Palácio d'Ouro
The Palácio d’Ouro is an 18th-century architectural and mining complex located in Ouro Preto, Minas Gerais. Set within one of the most emblematic landscapes of Colonial Brazil, the space brings together history, art, architecture, and landscape in an authentic and immersive cultural experience.
During the visit, guests explore the Main House — with its historic halls and preserved collection — the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows, the hanging gardens and natural viewpoints, as well as the Paschoal Mine, a historic gold mine integrated into the complex. Each space reveals fundamental aspects of the formation of Vila Rica and the gold cycle in Minas Gerais.
All visits are exclusively guided and conducted in small groups, ensuring a careful, in-depth, and accessible experience. One of the great distinguishing features of the Palácio d’Ouro is the presentation of the historical gold-processing method, with a demonstration of the mundéu, allowing visitors to understand 18th-century mining practices in a clear and didactic way.
More than a tourist attraction, the Palácio d’Ouro is a space dedicated to heritage preservation, cultural education, and the creation of experiences that connect past and present. A place to walk, learn, and feel history in one of Ouro Preto’s most remarkable settings.
